Instant Joy

From the Introduction to Instant Joy:

Most people believe that if they can solve their problems and achieve their goals, they will experience success, happiness and eventually joy. This is how most human beings define happiness. This is common to nearly all people everywhere.

If you will be honest with yourself you will most likely admit that, up to this point, you have not been able to solve all your problems and to achieve all your goals. You’ve probably been trying very hard, but most likely have been unable to do this for any number of reasons.

This book will reveal why you have been unable to do this. It will then show you how to overcome this, right now.

Just imagine what it would feel like to experience total joy every moment. Really try to imagine what that would be like; how it would feel. Can this be accomplished? Yes it can. Is this really possible? Yes. Can you envision what this might be like? If you are like most people, you probably cannot even conceive of this as a possibility for you with all ‘those things’ in your life that you must deal with every day. Sadly, for most of the human race, this does sound too good to be true. But it is not too good to be true.

The very idea itself seems to be just a little far fetched. To live a life completely free of problems, accomplishing everything you have ever dreamed of seems to be out of your reach.  Your mind would have you believe that experiencing a state of total joy immediately is not possible. It is very possible. The truth is that this has not been possible for you. Yet.

More From Instant Joy:

In regards to eliminating a problem or achieving a goal, there is one very important reason why a good many of the ideas, methods and systems you have tried in the past have failed. Systems or theories for achievement that are not based on this simple law are doomed to failure. Systems that incorporate this law effectively will work nearly every time. This is because real change must be introduced at the level at which change can occur - at the level of mind itself. No system based on making changes at the level of behavior will ever work. This law is called the ‘First Law Of Mind’.

THE FIRST LAW OF MIND

YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR MIND BY
CHANGING YOUR BEHAVIOR

But...

YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOR BY
CHANGING YOUR MIND

You see, we have been taught (and we have innocently believed) that the way to generate a successful outcome to things is to simply change our behavior. This is not the case, for the mind has not yet changed. Almost without fail the mind will nearly always resist change. This is why it often seems so difficult to simply change our behavior.

Many of the systems and ideas you have tried in the past have focused on changing a behavior to gain a new mind-set. This seldom works. Though you may be able to change any destructive behavior in the short term, your mind will constant "re-mind" you that there is that piece of chocolate cake in the fridge or that bottle in the cabinet or that pipe in the drawer. Now most of us will make the mistake of trying to ‘stay strong’, hoping that this will somehow affect how we feel about what we are doing. Not so.

You and your mind are often at odds about what ‘you’ want. Unfortunately, your mind will win out nearly every time.

Nearly all the teachings you have encountered in your life have concentrated on teaching you how to do. Few have attempted to teach you how to think. This is the same as saying everyone has taught you how to mold your behavior but not your thoughts. This training, though well intentioned and generally accepted, goes completely against the First Law of Mind. The end result is that you will do what your mind does not want to do, believing it to be correct. This is why you must ‘fight yourself’.  This is why you seem to experience conflict. This is also why you often eventually fail.

The very idea that one must ‘fight oneself’ is insanity. Yet this idea is generally accepted by nearly all people. You are not fighting your ’self’. You are instead fighting your own mind.

If you can simply learn to control the thoughts you experience, your dreams can take physical form beginning right now. Fighting your ‘self’ is not necessary. Fighting an unwanted desire is never necessary if the desire never appears in the first place. Doing something you ‘should’ do is not difficult if your mind first truly desires to do it. Simply changing a behavior - going against the desires of the mind - will never work in the long run. Changing behavior is futile. Changing the mind itself first is what does work and what will work.

The ideas presented here can catapult you into developing the life you have always dreamed of, just the way you dreamed it. Moreover, you will not have to wait years for the changes to take effect; in fact, the changes will begin to take place in just a few days, a few hours, perhaps a few minutes. You will no longer need to ‘fight yourself’ at all to gain what you want. It will all come easily when you at last convince your own mind to create the desired change.

This is not hypnosis or positive thinking. These sometimes work, but often only temporarily. What is offered here is a total retraining of the mind to a completely new experience.

To begin this process, you must consider an entirely different way of approaching your problems and your goals.

PROJECT

Please answer the following question honestly:

If this were your last day on earth, what would you do right now?

List here everything you would want to accomplish if you were to leave this Earth at the end of this very day.

Now, answer truthfully -  yes or no:

Would you be reading a book?

Not likely, is it?

You see, if you knew that this were to be your last day on Earth, many of the situations you perceive to be problems would disappear rather quickly.

It is not that the situation itself would disappear. Certainly not. It is rather that your attachment to the desired outcome would instead disappear. You would perceive the relative unimportance of your so-called problems clearly, urgently and immediately.

Likewise, if this truly were your last few hours on Earth, you would also recognize your real goals - the important ones. It is your mind that has been telling you what it feels to be important. You, the ‘you’ who is really you, would not hesitate for a single moment to talk one more time to that old friend with whom you had a falling out or to spend some real time in communication with those you love. You would immediately do something you have always wanted to do perhaps.

You would drink in the sunrise. The smallest chirp of a tiny bird would sound like a symphony. You would hold the hand of your child or your spouse. For those last few moments, your mind would finally recognize the beauty, the importance and the precious value of this tiny short life you have been given.

That is awakening.

That is where the great teachers are trying to take you.

And, if you learn to live every single minute of every single hour of every single day in such an alive and awake manner, that is known simply as ‘living in joy’.
